French-Algerian lesbian teen Fatima navigates the space between devotion and desire in modern-day Paris. The youngest daughter in a tight-knit family, she struggles to reconcile her faith with her awakening attraction to women—testing the limits of love, identity, and belonging.
Hafsia Herzi began her career as an actress. Her first two films as a director were selected at the Cannes Film Festival. YOU DESERVE A LOVER, selected for Critics’ Week, received critical acclaim in 2019, and GOOD MOTHER won the Ensemble Prize in the Un Certain Regard section in 2021, awarded by Andrea Arnold. Hafsia also directed a TV movie for ARTE, THE PLAYGROUND, which received two awards at the La Rochelle Festival.
