Clément Tréhin-Lalanne was born in 1983 in the suburbs of Paris. During his higher education in film studies, he directed a short film L’Attente, as well as learned the skills of being a unit manager and assistant director as part of the production company FullDawa. Having graduated, he became unit manager on several full-length films. On the side, he produced Lucien, a short film that was selected to be shown at a number of film festivals. The idea for Aïssa came to him in 2010 after having read the article Rue99 concerning the medical testing given to young adults to gauge their actual age.
